Samarkand: Routes to Riches

Multilingual first edition: Dutch; English; French; German; Italian; Spanish A very approachable game based on the systems in Harry Wu's various train games. The board shows a map which extends from Turkey and Egypt to India and China. The players represent powerful trading families who intend to increase their influence along The Silk Road. The best way to do this is to marry into a variety of families and use their caravans to reach still further trading families. Play involves the placement of camels to extend these trading routes as well as marrying into further families. Points are awarded for getting trading routes to locations shown on cards, and having families you have married into meet up with other families on the board.
